Vacancy - Insect Farm Operator - NOW Solutions

The Trustees of the Seagull Centre are in search of an insect farm operator to join our team.

The Seagull Centre has recently secured funding to investigate the commercial viability of using Black Soldier Fly Larvae (BSFL) to process organic wastes such as food waste and biosolids to produce byproducts such as animal feed and soil conditioners.  This study will take place at our site in Thames and will gradually migrate to other sites across the Coromandel over the next 2 -3 years.

We are looking for an experienced operations worker to work with us to develop the processes and systems needed for this trial as well as to supervise and contribute to development of the ongoing operations and assist our research team.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, be physically fit, have some basic scientific understanding and be able to work autonomously and independently. The candidate must be able to communicate with a range of people and have problem-solving and record keeping abilities. A good knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety systems is also required.

The role will evolve with time commitments, expanding once the operations are fully developed.  Initially the role is envisaged to entail at least 15 hours per week, with additional hours for a candidate willing to assist with other Seagull Centre operations such as driving.

If you are interested in the role please send your CV and covering letter to : info@seagullcentre.co.nz

Applications close on April 3 2025.
